I need to get back into the swing of things slowly but surely, so I thought I would start with a video from one of my favorite Thai bands, Nologo. The song is called กลัว (glua – to fear) from their CD “Gravity.” Their music is a good mix of rock, metal, and electropop. I suggest you check them out.

Thai TV: Watch Thai TV in the U.S. for Free!
This past weekend I had a satellite dish installed in my home. (Not nearly as large as the picture to the left, so don’t panic!) This is not a DirectTV-type system, but a system that is configured to point at one of the free-to-air content satellites currently circling our globe. In layman’s terms, that means I’m getting hundreds of TV and radio channels from around the world — FOR FREE! That’s right, no monthly service charge; no extra $2.95 surcharge for having a remote control; no “because we feel like it” tax applied to a monthly bill. Once it’s installed you never have to pay for service.
Thai Music: NOS – กอด (Hold Me)
Another one of my new favorite bands, NOS. These guys are a little more mellow than I generally like to listen to, but I still dig ‘em. The creator of this video did a great job of including the Thai, phonetics, and a good English translation. Below the video are the lyrics if you want to try and translate them yourself.

Thai Music: Kabinez
My friend Cornell gave me some Thai music CDs over the weekend, and I discovered this great gem of a band called “Kabinez.” I can’t find much information about them on the web (yet) but for now I will leave you with this video that kicks butt!
Thai Music: หัวใจ (Heart) by Big Ass
No, the name is not a joke. “Big Ass” is the name of the band, and honestly they are quite good. My friend Cornell turned me onto this song and, unfortunately (but in a good way) I can’t get it out of my head. I’ll edit this post later with translated lyrics and interpretation once I have some time to do a proper translation and double-check with the wife to make sure it’s correct. Just ignore their attempt at romanization; it’s not very good. If you’re feeling up to it you can try to follow along with the Thai lyrics (posted below the video).
